Ok I was wondering why this place had low rating. We were seated with no silverware. I had to get up and ask for my own. Food took for ever to get to us. When we did get.

We went in about one month ago. Needless to say the place was awful. The hostess had NO personality. The person offering Parmesan cheese for the salads got aggravated when we didn't answer he immediately. The food was mediocre. The bathrooms had diarrhea on the toilets and walls. The waiter was the only positive experience at the restaurant.

Ok, after fishing over in Westlake we decided to go eat at Olive gardens afterwards. The best part of the evening was the Manager. She was awesome. Helping out when needed, great smile and cheery attitude...unfortunately the other service and food were not anywhere near that. Service was laking, waitress seemed young and inexperienced. Took forever to get things refilled or were refilled early, just crowding the table which was already full of empty plates. Food was over cooked (the first plate that was put onto the table was so overcooked we could barely eat it), even some of the bread was tough and brown. Salad was over dressed which made it wilt and go soggy. When the check came we were stunned to see the 80 dollar total for a meal we could barely eat. I mean come on, 10 dollars for half bowl of soup, yes my bowl was half full when brought to me, and salad. I even had to ask for more soup later, when soup and salad is what I ordered you would think the bowl would get refilled. Now that soup was VERY good! Chicken spinach and gnochi (?). I dont think anyone really ate their actual meal, we all put it in to-go boxes, which took us forever to get, no one could stomach anymore of the food I guess. We sat another 5 minutes+ to be able to get the check. We asked for one of the salad dressing bottles to be put on our bill, and it was not. On the way out I was looking at the bill to see if we had actually payed for one, and had not. The manager actually gave us a free bottle due to something my son had done when we entered the resturaunt. Someone in need was headed to the door, my son backtracked to the door and opened it for the male in a wheelchair. The manager was very empressed that a 16 yr old would actually do something like that anymore, the way kids are raised today. I doubt other than going by to get more dressing or buying breadsticks if we will ever go back again. Pains me because I know that manager is doing the best she can with what she has.

Growing up in Monterey Bay CA usually don't go for chain Italian restaurant however had a bad experience at chili's down the road and a man has to eat. First off server was Bailey she was awesome the food was hot and pretty tasty will definitely give them a try again.

The server greeted us with a look and attitude that said he'd really rather be anywhere but there. The salad and breadsticks arrived in a timely manner. Then the wait for our entree ensued. The server apologized and said he would try to speed things up. Finally the food arrived. My husbands chicken manicotti was hot and very tasty. My baked fish and shrimp was completely cold. It was supposed to be served with broccoli Parmesan. In actuality there was a pile of unseasoned raw broccoli on the side. My complaint to the manager did get it removed from the bill, but he didn't seem particularly concerned about it.

Worse experience ever! Had to ask waiter over and over for stuff. Waiter finally got mad and I guess he quit. Manager took over and service didn't improve even with manager. Will never return to that Olive Garden again. My food over all was excellent but their service is horrible. Manager didn't even offer a discount.

Can I give it zero stars? We stopped here while driving back to Texas because there was a traffic jam on I-10 and we were ready for dinner anyway. It was approximately 5:30 pm. The restaurant was more than half empty and several servers were standing around with nothing to do. Our server was new, like second day new. She was triple sat and it all went downhill from there. We waited 30 minutes for our food including our salad and dipping sauce. Then it all came at once, salad, entrees, everything. My daughter's chicken fingers were cold and hard. The cheese on my husband's chicken wasn't even melted and the chicken was cold. The salad was brown and slimy. The Alfredo dipping sauce had been sitting so long the cheese had separated from the fat and was discolored. My husband sent his chicken back and when our server emerged with our check 25 minutes later, we still had not received his chicken. To top it all off, another server was nearby having a fun conversation with his table using profanity. Just lovely. My husband did speak to the manager, but he had a fake smile on his face the whole time and was unapologetic. I am so glad this is not our neighborhood Olive Garden, and we will never return to this one when traveling.

This has to be the absolute worst Olive Garden we have ever been to. On any given day, I'm in love with everything Olive Garden however, last night was not the case. Bread sticks were cold and dry, salad had very little dressing (if any). I think they just waved the ladle over it and called it good. Waiter was very visibly absent most of the time and then he wasn't very communicative. It took forever for him to take our order, then to get our salad and breadsticks. We had appetizer waaaayyy before our salad. Speaking of appetizer, the stuffed mushrooms were barely warm and for the most part, raw. Desert was my fave tiramisu and that was frozen in the middle. If I'm ever back in Lake Charles, I will not be visiting this establishment.

Smells like a wet sock in here. Waitress didn't take our order or great us for almost ten minutes. Good came out before our drinks and salad. One of my meatballs wasn't fully formed.

This should be about 3.5 stars, but I went with the 4 rather than 3 because all the lows will offset it. I started off with low expectations, due to 1) it being OG and 2) all of the other low reviews. We walked in the door, and the place smelled like fecal matter. Seriously, I checked my kids pants. It smelled like straight s*** all over the place. The hostess wasn't overly friendly, but we were seated quickly. We sat almost long enough to walk out before some dude finally came to get our drink order. We ordered our food right then. A short time after ordering, it got better. A sweet young lady walked out with our salad and drinks and took over our table. The food came out right after that (i'm talking within 15 mins of ordering). The food was hot, correct, and as good as one would expect from OG. I may return, but that smell is what would keep me away. It was that bad.

So slooooowwww. We ate at the bar hoping to get better service, but no such luck. We waited 20 minutes for our appetizer, 10 more minutes for a dessert, and 10 extra minutes for our check. If you're in no rush and you don't like to have refills, this quiet environment is a great place to chat. Our drinks were good, but I must say that the calamari and fried ravioli appetizer and zappoli dessert were not really up to the normal Olive Garden standards. It was a little disappointing.

Don't waste your time stopping here. They are the worst Italian kitchen ever. We left without eating and sending the food back. My salmon with broccoli was refrigerator cold....and that was the best part.

Waited half an hour for a seat and it wasn't busy. Service was mediocre. Food was poor. I ordered chicken and mashed potatoes with white sauce. Chicken was burned on the bottom and undercooked on the top. The potatoes were the worst instant potatoes I've seen. I won't be going back.

Service was decent. But the food was mediocre at best even for olive garden. Someone really needs to improve the skill of the kitchen. Chicken was overcooked and dried out to jerky. Stuffing for the stuffed chicken Marsala was obsolete. Potatoes tasted like powdered mix. Really not a good showing for this chain.

If there was a lower rating i would give it. The food tastes as if it came from a poorly run microwave in the back (which i am sure it did). I would never recommend this place to anyone. Food was swill not fit for human consumption.

My husband and I took my mother, who was visiting from Maryland, to dinner. We had a great time, the food was delicious and our waitress Bridgette was very friendly. We got there an hour or less before closing, but were treated great. She was really on the ball with everything, and she was joking with us from the start, & was extremely pleasant to talk to. All of us were pleased with how friendly the staff was, how cheerful they were, and how great our meals turned out. Will definitely be back, the next time we go to Lake Charles.

After reading these reviews I do not feel bad at all about having to post negative. We went to dinner. Arrived around 9:10 and ordered by 9:20. It was 10:15 before we for out meals. Once they arrived two of us had rubber like chicken. Our spaghetti noodles were not cooked at all and another guest found hair in her food. We told the waiter and he really didn't know what to say or do. Since they were closed by that point (not our fault the meal took over am hour to get to us) they offered us the items left in the kitchen but couldn't re cook our food due to time. After paying the bill in full, the manager caught us and wanted to comp our meal. However while he deleted the credit card charge, he left $2.09 on the cars and said its so we could add a tip! Wow. Why would we leave a tip when we had am experience like this?

We have refrained from eating at this Olive Garden but tonight decided to give it a chance. Well not again. Service was inconsistent. Soup came out promptly. But the appetizer came out after the soup which was ordered second. The appetizer was calamari and it was so overlooked that the squid was brown. The server did comp the app. Our meals came out shortly after the calamari. My chicken was very over cooked and my husbands angel hair pasta fell apart. It took 90 minutes from sitting down to check and we asked for boxes 10 minutes before we really needed them just to move things along. I really enjoy Olive Garden, but this particular one is not good

Went for a friend's birthday with a party of 20. Service was extremely slow. It took 45 minutes just to get salad to the table. Our entrees came out a few at a time and some in our party waited an hour and a half to get their main dish. Wait staff kept coming out to ask us what we had ordered and reassuring us it was on the way. Humph, I truly think they forgot what we ordered! When the dishes were finally served, some of our party had to put them into take out containers so we wouldn't miss our next scheduled engagement. Not happy or satisfied at all with service or food for that matter. You can imagine our frustration when we realized the large table seated behind us, which came in after us, we're finished with there food before our party was even served! Once we all were served, paying the check was another slow ordeal. Even complaining to the manager was a joke. The only compensation offered was a non-empathetic "I'm Sorry"! The topper of the night, we were 15 minutes late for our next venue because of the poor service from the Olive Garden. Next time I get a craving for Italian, I'll cook it myself at home. At least then, I'll only have myself to blame for any inconvenience!

The Sizzler (if you're Midwest think Ponderosa) of Italian food. If you have to have Italian food but can't find a good place, then Olive Garden will do. What I have had here has no inspiration and I suspect most of their food is ready made. I had their Tour of Italy with Fettuccine Alfredo, Chicken Parmesan, and Lasagna. The only one that really peaked any interest was the Chicken Parmesan. The breading was crunchy and that made it different. Don't think it is supposed to crunch that much (think of fried catfish) but it made it pretty good. The fettuccine was slightly undercooked. The downer about OG is that it has too many young waiters that have little experience waiting in restaurants. This is like something they would put in their resume so they can go to serve in fine dining where they will get better tips. There were too many waiters doing nothing. 3 of them were in front just waiting for guests. I saw about 1/2 a dozen relaxing in different areas of the restaurant. Then there were the ones moving about and working but they will not make way if you are walking down an aisle. The food is OK, our waiter was OK, the restaurant in Lake Charles was just OK. I guess for Italian this will do in Lake Charles.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
